Somatic Therapy
Somatic therapy is a body-centered approach to healing that recognizes the deep connection between the mind, body, and spirit. Rooted in the understanding that trauma and emotional pain are stored not only in the mind but also in the body. Somatic therapy invites individuals to reconnect with their physical selves to process and release stored stress, tension, and unresolved emotions. Through gentle, guided techniques, somatic therapy helps you cultivate awareness of your body’s sensations, allowing you to become more attuned to what it holds and how it responds to life experiences.
In a trauma-informed somatic therapy session, I will create a safe and supportive space, honouring your unique experiences and pace. The focus is on fostering trust in your body’s wisdom, so you can release physical and emotional blockages, heal trauma at its core, and restore a sense of wholeness. Unlike traditional talk therapy, somatic therapy acknowledges that healing isn’t only a mental process—it is deeply physical, emotional, and spiritual.

About Janelle
My journey to becoming a somatic practitioner is deeply personal, shaped by my own experiences with trauma, depression, and anxiety. Born and raised in the Caribbean, I moved to the UK as a teenager and spent much of my adulthood battling emotional struggles without truly understanding why or how to process them. I tried various forms of talking therapy, but none seemed to reach the core of what I was feeling. My counsellors listened, but I never felt truly seen or supported. It always felt like something essential was missing, as if we were only scratching the surface of my depression without ever going deeper.
For years, I carried the weight of unresolved emotions, feeling like my life was spinning out of control. After the loss of a close family member, experiencing the break down of several relationships, self-isolation, living in a constant state of hopelessness and inner turmoil, I reached a breaking point. I realized I couldn’t continue living like this—I needed to find a way to heal and reclaim my life.
It was during this difficult period that I discovered somatic therapy. This approach completely transformed my life. Through somatic therapy, I was able to access the deeper layers of my trauma, allowing me to truly process and release the pain I had been carrying for so long. It gave me the tools and space I needed to reconnect with my body, to fully understand my emotions, build capacity and to heal from the inside out.
Somatic therapy opened a new world for me. It wasn’t just about addressing my depression and anxiety; it was about rediscovering who I truly was, embracing my authentic self, and finding liberation from the patterns that had held me back for so long. I have been able to create a life that fills me with purpose and joy—a life that I truly love. I wake up with a deep sense of fulfilment and gratitude, knowing that I am living authentically and in alignment with my values. Over time, I've learned to embrace the things that bring me excitement and happiness, allowing myself the freedom to engage in activities that nourish my spirit and spark my creativity. In addition, I’ve made a conscious effort to strengthen the relationships with the people who matter most to me—whether it’s family, friends, or colleagues. Through self-awareness I now have a deeper understanding of the importance of healthy boundaries, and I’ve learned to communicate my needs in ways that foster mutual respect and understanding. As a result, I feel more connected and at ease in my relationships than ever before.
This journey of self-discovery and healing led me to my calling—to help others who feel stuck, lost, or overwhelmed by their own trauma and emotional pain.
Now, as a certified somatic practitioner, I provide compassionate, trauma-informed care for individuals seeking a deeper connection with their bodies, a safe space to process their trauma, and a path to holistic healing in mind, body, and spirit. I know first-hand the transformative power of somatic therapy, and I’m passionate about guiding others toward the same freedom, peace, and self-acceptance that I have found.

How Can I Help You
Somatic therapy is a powerful approach to healing anxiety, stress, and unresolved emotions by working with the body as well as the mind. When we experience overwhelming emotions or unresolved trauma, our nervous system can become dysregulated, leaving us stuck in patterns of chronic stress, fear, or sadness. Traditional talk therapy often focuses on analysing thoughts and emotions, while somatic therapy goes deeper by helping you reconnect with your body’s innate ability to process and release stored tension. Through behavioural therapies and guided practices like breathwork, meditation, and body awareness, I help you develop a felt sense of safety, allowing your nervous system to shift from a state of survival to one of regulation and balance.
Together, we build your capacity to handle difficult emotions and life challenges without feeling consumed by them. Rather than avoiding or suppressing painful feelings, you’ll learn how to sit with them, process them, and move through them in a way that fosters resilience. 1:1 Somatic Sessions
A free initial consultation is required prior to commencing coaching sessions. This 30 minute meeting serves to explore whether somatic therapy is an appropriate approach for your needs. The consultation also provides an opportunity for you to gain a clearer understanding of the techniques and benefits of somatic therapy. Additionally, it allows you to determine if my approach aligns with your expectations, ensuring that we are a suitable match for a productive coaching relationship. This step is essential to ensure that you feel confident and comfortable as we move forward.
